Weekend Getaways From Noida: 8 Trips by Car Within 300 km, From Ganga Ghats to Chambal Gharials
18 October 2026 · Rise Propworld Team
Eight weekend getaways from Noida and Greater Noida that skip Delhi traffic: Garhmukteshwar, Hastinapur, Vrindavan, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Bharatpur, Chambal and Surajpur, with sourced facts and two ready plans.

October to February is the best season of the year to leave Noida on a Saturday morning. The heat is gone, the migratory birds are back, and an early start on the Yamuna Expressway beats the weekend rush.
The catch: most "weekend getaways from Noida" lists are written for Delhi, and they send you into four hours of Gurgaon traffic before your trip even starts. This list is built for people who live in Noida and Greater Noida. Every trip starts on our side of the city, mostly on the Yamuna Expressway or NH-9, and every fact below comes from a named source.
How we picked these weekend getaways from Noida
Three rules. Each place must be reachable by car in a day. Each must be worth an overnight stay or a full day. And each must be something we could verify: what it is, who protects or runs it, and roughly how far it is. Where a source only gives the distance from Delhi or Agra, we say so.
| # | Getaway | Best for | Distance reference (source) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Garhmukteshwar and Brajghat | Ganga ghats, a quick reset | About 100 km from New Delhi (Wikipedia) |
| 2 | Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary | Wetlands, gharials, birds | About 96 km from Delhi, 35 km from Meerut (Wikipedia) |
| 3 | Vrindavan | Temples, food, evening aarti | About 125 km from New Delhi (Wikipedia) |
| 4 | Agra by the expressway | The Taj, the classic | Yamuna Expressway is 165.5 km from Pari Chowk to Agra (Wikipedia) |
| 5 | Fatehpur Sikri | Mughal city, UNESCO site | About 36 km from Agra (Wikipedia) |

1. Garhmukteshwar and Brajghat: the closest Ganga from Noida
Garhmukteshwar is a town in Hapur district, about 100 km from New Delhi on NH-9, according to Wikipedia. It sits about 5 km from the Ganga, and Brajghat on the riverbank is where most visitors go for a dip, a boat ride or the evening view.
Why it works for a weekend: it is the nearest stretch of the Ganga you can reach from Noida without planning a hill trip. Leave early on NH-9 and you are on the ghats before lunch.
2. Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary: wetlands an hour past Meerut
Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary was set up in 1986 and covers 2,073 sq km along the Ganga, including about 767 sq km of riverscape, wetland and grassland, per Wikipedia. It is about 35 km from Meerut.
Between 2009 and 2012, 494 gharials were released here, and the sanctuary records swamp deer, nilgai, sambar and 117 bird species, according to the same source. Winter is the best time for the wetlands.
3. Vrindavan: temples, lassi and the evening crowd
Vrindavan is about 125 km from New Delhi and close to Mathura, according to Wikipedia. From Greater Noida, the drive is along the Yamuna Expressway to the Mathura interchange.
Three places most first-time visitors cover:
- Banke Bihari Temple, built in 1862.
- Prem Mandir, a temple complex on a 54-acre site on the outskirts of the town.
- ISKCON's Krishna-Balarama temple in Raman Reti.
Go on a weekday if you can. Weekends are crowded. If you keep coming back, our story on flats in Vrindavan and the Yamuna Expressway run will interest you.
4. Agra by the Yamuna Expressway
The Yamuna Expressway runs 165.5 km from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Kuberpur near Agra, with a 100 km/h limit for cars, according to Wikipedia. That makes Agra the easiest big-city weekend from Greater Noida.
We have already written a full plan with tolls and timings: Greater Noida to Agra by road, toll, distance and a Taj day trip. Use Agra as your base for the next three trips.
5. Fatehpur Sikri: the Mughal capital most people skip
Akbar founded Fatehpur Sikri in 1571, and it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, per Wikipedia. It is about 36 km from Agra.
Do not miss the Buland Darwaza, which Wikipedia gives as 54 m high, the Jama Masjid and the tomb of Salim Chishti. Go early. The red sandstone gets hot even in October afternoons.
6. Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur: the winter birding trip
Keoladeo, 2 km from Bharatpur and 55 km west of Agra, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, according to Wikipedia. It covers about 29 sq km, and more than 370 bird species have been recorded here. Winter is when migratory birds arrive.
History fans will like this detail: Keoladeo was a wintering ground for the Siberian crane, and the last birds were recorded in the winter of 2001-02, per Wikipedia.
Our tip: take it slow and start early. The best birding is at first light.
7. National Chambal Sanctuary: gharials and river dolphins
The National Chambal Sanctuary spans about 5,400 sq km across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, and Agra is about 70 km away, according to Wikipedia. It protects the critically endangered gharial and the endangered Ganges river dolphin, with at least 320 bird species recorded.
Public entry points listed by Wikipedia include Pinahat and Nandgaon Ghat, and Bah has a forest rest house and lodges. This is the most "off the map" trip on this list, and the most rewarding in winter.
8. Surajpur Wetland: the getaway with no drive at all
Not every weekend needs 300 km. If you live in Greater Noida, Surajpur Wetland is a winter morning without a car journey. Our local's guide to Surajpur Wetland covers timings and what to expect, and our list of places to visit in Greater Noida has more close-to-home ideas.
Two plans for weekend getaways from Noida
| Plan | Day 1 | Day 2 |
|---|---|---|
| The Ganga weekend | Early drive on NH-9 to Garhmukteshwar, ghats and boat ride | Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary in the morning, drive back via Meerut |
| The Agra loop | Yamuna Expressway to Agra, Fatehpur Sikri in the afternoon | Keoladeo at dawn, back on the expressway by evening |
What these trips say about where people want to live
Notice a pattern? Four of the eight trips run down the Yamuna Expressway. That is exactly the corridor we work every week, from Greater Noida to Agra. Our new Yamuna Expressway route map with every exit shows what is being built at each stop.
Some families skip the drive altogether and buy their own green escape closer to home. If that is you, read our honest Q&A on whether farmhouses in Noida are legal before you look at Prakriti Luxury Farm Houses or anything like it.
