Greater Noida to Agra by Road: Toll, Distance and Taj Day Trip

Greater Noida to Agra by road on the Yamuna Expressway: the 165.5 km distance, the official YEIDA toll table, speed limits, Taj Mahal rules and a simple day-trip plan.

Can you do the Taj Mahal as a day trip from Greater Noida? Yes, if you plan the road, the toll and the Friday closure before you leave, and not while you are already on the expressway.
Here is a practical guide to Greater Noida to Agra by road, built from the expressway authority's own toll page, the Archaeological Survey of India's Taj Mahal page and Wikipedia's expressway entry. Where a number is missing or unclear, we say so.
Greater Noida to Agra by road: the basic numbers
The route is the Yamuna Expressway. According to Wikipedia, it runs 165.537 km from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to NH 19 at Kuberpur near Agra. It has 6 lanes, expandable to 8, and was inaugurated on 9 August 2012.
The same page gives the speed limit for regular vehicles as 100 km/h. Do the sum: 165.5 km at 100 km/h comes to about 1 hour 40 minutes without stopping. That is a floor, not a forecast. Add your start point, a break, the toll lanes and Agra city traffic at the far end.
Winter needs a warning. In December 2021, Hindustan Times reported that light vehicles were limited to 80 km/h and heavy vehicles to 60 km/h from 15 December to 15 February because of low visibility. That was one winter's order, not a standing rule, so check the current advisory if you travel in fog season.

What does the Yamuna Expressway toll cost?
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) lists these fares on its toll page, in rupees:
| Vehicle | Jewar | Mathura | Agra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two or three wheeler, tractor | 60 | 75 | 70 |
| Car | 120 | 155 | 140 |
| Light commercial vehicle | 185 | 240 | 220 |
| Bus or truck | 380 | 485 | 445 |
Two honest caveats. The page does not say how these figures combine for a full Greater Noida to Agra journey, and it shows no effective date. So do not add them up and budget to the rupee. Treat the table as the official price list, and confirm the amount at the toll plaza or through your FASTag.
The authority recommends registering for a smart tag, and says the fare is deducted automatically and shown on the screen beside the toll booth. If you pay manually, the toll collector classifies your vehicle and tells you the fare.
What are the exits and junctions worth knowing?
Wikipedia lists the expressway's major junctions: NH 334DD near Jewar, NH 334D at Tappal, NH 530B at Mathura and NH 509 at Khandauli. If you are adding Mathura to the day, the Mathura junction is your exit. Confirm the exit name on the signboards, since the road signs are the only source that matters on the day.
Taj Mahal rules to check before you go
The ASI's official Taj Mahal page states the following.
- Visiting hours: from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes before sunset.
- Closed day: Friday.
- Ticket for Indian citizens: ₹50 for the main complex, plus ₹200 extra for the main mausoleum.
- Online tickets: sold through the ASI website, with a discount of ₹5 per Indian ticket.
- Children: no entry fee for children under 15.
Prices and rules change, so check the official page on the day you plan the trip. Because closing time follows sunset, anchor your schedule to the sunset time for your date and not to a fixed clock hour.
A simple day-trip plan
- Pick a non-Friday. The Taj is closed on Fridays.
- Check the fog and weather advisory the night before.
- Fill the tank and check the tyres before you enter the expressway. YEIDA's travel tips say to make sure you have enough fuel and to check oil and water levels.
- Book Taj tickets online to skip the ticket queue.
- Leave early, and work backwards from the Taj's closing time.
- Stop only on the hard shoulder, with parking lights on, and never at a lonely spot unless it is an emergency.
What to budget for the day
Here is a simple way to think about the money, using only the official figures.
- Taj Mahal tickets: for four Indian adults, the main complex costs 4 x ₹50 = ₹200 and the main mausoleum adds 4 x ₹200 = ₹800, so ₹1,000 in total before any online discount.
- Toll: use the YEIDA table above and confirm at the plaza, since the page does not show how the fares combine.
- Fuel: fill up before you enter the expressway, as YEIDA's tips recommend.
- Everything else: parking, food and any guide are outside the official pages we checked, so keep a buffer.
Children under 15 do not pay an entry fee, so a family with young kids will pay less than the example above.
Safety numbers to save
YEIDA's page lists roadside Emergency Call Boxes along the expressway and a toll-free number, 1800-102-7777, for emergencies. Save it before you set off, along with your own contacts.
Why property buyers watch this road
The Yamuna Expressway is more than a highway. It is the spine of a corridor that now includes the Noida International Airport. Our deeper analysis in the Greater Noida to Agra corridor guide and what comes beyond Jewar looks at what the corridor means for buyers. For our own stand on how to weigh it, read our take on Jewar airport property investment.
One of our projects sits on this road. Our Eldeco Echoes of Eden page places it at Sector 22D on the Yamuna Expressway. If you are already driving the expressway for a day out, tell us and we can plan a short stop, and you can see the details on the Eldeco Echoes of Eden project page. For the wider comparison, our three-zone Greater Noida guide puts the Yamuna Expressway next to Greater Noida West and Sector 150.
